Using up Sale-a-Bration Product | SAB and DSP-Based Card

NOTEZ BIEN: I have a Black Friday-Cyber Monday gift-with-purchase coming up, so make sure to check out my Instagram to find out the deals!

I tend to select paper as my Sale-a-Bration product-with-purchase, so I have a ton of the foil 6×6 DSP and the Rings of Love DSP. I’m having a hard time figuring out what to do with the Foil DSP, so Rings of Love it is.

DSP is really useful when you want to make simpler cards, as you can use it for a complex background without a ton of labor. In this case, I cut the 12×12 DSP into 6 pieces (4″x6″) and trimmed the pieces down to 4″x5 1/4″ to become my first layer.

This project used Night of Navy cardstock as the base, Night of Navy and Mint Macaron Inks, and Watercolor Shapes and Amazing Phrasing Photopolymer Stamp Sets. I wanted a fun embellishment but wasn’t feeling a Mint Macaron heart, so I opted to add some Iridescent Pearl Embellishments.

Here’s the final result!

Customizing Notecards with Heat Embossing

I had a friend ask me to help turn a set of store-bought notecards into a set of thank you cards for medical school interview thank-you cards. The notecards were white with gold borders and an otherwise blank front with plain white envelopes.

I decided to keep with the gold theme and heat emboss the elements – something a little more fancy when sending as a thank you for a very large and selective program. I used a retired stamp (that came out when Stampin’ Up! introduced Blendabilities… long time ago and since discontinued) but I still like the stamp and can use it with our current Stampin’ Blends.

Having a whole assembly line when heat embossing makes the process go a lot faster. I stamped the image in Versamark and immediately applied the gold powder. The un-embossed card was carefully set aside until I could clean up the powder and have enough room to heat-emboss all of the cards in a line.

In the bottom right corner, I stamped and heat embossed a “thank you” greeting from the Good Feelings set. I decided to keep the envelope plain (partially because I didn’t bring other products to make it different as well as the card itself already being very gold.

Always remember that you can use notecards and such that you already have to make something new! It’s not necessary to always reinvent the wheel, especially when giving a card to someone who isn’t going to recognize or appreciate the difference between upcycled and completely handmade.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SALE-A-BRATION

Sale-a-bration ends today, so make sure to get your orders in to take advantage of the awesome deals!

Starting tomorrow, 1 September, Stampin’ Up! will be offering weekly deals AND our Perfect Partners will be available for everyone to order! The Perfect Partners dies will only be available while supplies last, so make sure to take advantage of the weekly deals and bundles if you don’t want to place an order today.

I’ll be sharing some projects using some of the Perfect Partners stamps and dies, so make sure to check back throughout September for those projects!

Good Feelings and Party Puffins with Friends

Yesterday I brought over some supplies to my friends’ house and we made some cards! I decided to use up the pre-stamped images I had from the previous post (Good Feelings Sweet Sorbet Sympathy Card) and we made the same design using the other In Colors. I wanted to also include a project with a more difficult technique, so I decided to make a simple card with a heat-embossed element.

The Party Puffins card uses the largest circle and the largest banner dies from the Stylish Shapes dies set, and we chose whichever puffin and greeting we wanted. The greeting was then embossed using Versamark and Black Embossing Powder. The Stampin’ Blends worked well for coloring in feet and beaks (when the images are stamped using Memento ink.)

This week I also moved back into school and finished setting up my room; I built this shelf (which was difficult 1) alone 2) without the proper tools and 3) while sweating profusely), but it works well for my storage bins (from Target and Costco) and other supplies.

Today I am going to work on my August Paper Pumpkin Kit while my shift in the mailroom is slow. I am really excited to make this kit (overview here!) I love the designs as a nice transition from summer to fall weather here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Sale-a-Bration Almost Over!

Sale-a-Bration ends 31 August, so make sure to get your orders in before it ends so you can take advantage of the awesome gifts that come with $50 or $100 order increments! I really like the Silver and Gold 6×6 DSP, so that’s what I have chosen as my extra gifts outside of the stamps and dies.

You can also earn EGoodies with your order, so make sure to use the August Host Code* and track them on the sheet found here!

Good Feelings Sweet Sorbet Sympathy Card

I made this card for a former teacher who is ill – and then made some more in the other In Colors of which I forgot to take photos before leaving home for a few days. Oh well!

The teacher I made this for was one of if not the most influential on me during my time in high school – she is the reason that I chose the college I currently attend and why I am a French major! In addition to contributing to her GoFundMe, I wanted to send something to make sure that she knows that my siblings (who had her as well) and I are thinking about her.

I really like this card design for a few reasons…

  • It uses half of a sheet of 6×6 DSP, so you can get two cards from one sheet and there is no waste
  • It is simple and easy to put together
  • With a large stamped greeting, I used the Stamparatus to make things go so much quicker
  • I enjoy monochromatic designs, and this card works very well with our vibrant In Colors this year

This design can easily be adapted to use other greetings in the Good Feelings set or other sets with large text-based stamps.

Remember that Sale-a-Bration is still going on, and you can earn SAB goodies and EGoodies with each increment of $50 you spend!

dimensions

The card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded into 4 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Each DSP square is 3 x 3.

The greeting is stamped on a piece of white cardstock is 2 1/2 x 3 using the Stamparatus for easy alignment.
