Layered Stripes January-April 2023 Mini Catalog Swap Card

I signed up for 4 swap groups this round, which was a lot of work while also finishing up coursework and taking final exams! This swap uses the Layered Stripes Background stamp and a greeting from Love for You in the Mini Catalog.
The Stamparatus, once again, came in handy when stamping the background as I was able to reink and apply pressure to areas I missed on the first stamp in order to create a crisp, clean image. I utilized a few different techniques in making this card, being Tone-on-Tone, Heat Embossing, and using scraps within the card design! The background is stamped in Starry Sky on Starry Sky cardstock, creating a Tone-on-Tone look. The “congratulations” message fit very nicely in the negative space of the background stamp, which I heat embossed in white for a bit of shine and pop from the paper.
My favorite innovation was using the scraps I cut from the Tahitian Tide mid-layer as an embellishment in order to create a more interesting composition. Each Tahitian Tide layer created two 1/4″ scraps when trimmed down to 4″x5 1/4″ from 4 1/4″x5 1/2″. I then glued these scraps over two diagonal negative space stripes and once dry, trimmed them flush with the layer using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Finally, I tied a vertical ribbon and bow around the top layer, which was difficult with large hands attempting to use as little ribbon as possible. I actually had just enough to finish my last swap of this design with none left to spare!
With Sale-a-Bration going on right now, it’s the perfect time to score a Mini Cut & Emboss machine (in one of our future In Colors) for effectively $30 (down from $63) when joining my team of Stampologists! See below for more information about the special for joining Stampin’ Up!

Sweet Citrus January-April 2023 Mini Catalog Swap Card

I signed up for 4 swap groups this round, which was a lot of work while also finishing up coursework and taking final exams! This swap uses the Sweet Citrus bundle in the Mini Catalog,
I used my Cut & Emboss machine a lot when making my swaps, which was rather difficult when working at my desk in my dorm, thankfully I also have the Mini Cut & Emboss machine which was much easier to maneuver in the small space. It also made it easier to keep my dies in place which I did with a bit of scotch tape to keep my margins even (remember, stamp then cut!). The Stamparatus came in handy when stamping the Blood Oranges as I could use both plates to stamp the Pumpkin Pie and then the Cherry Cobbler.
With Sale-a-Bration going on right now, it’s the perfect time to score a Mini Cut & Emboss machine (in one of our future In Colors) for effectively $30 (down from $63) when joining my team of Stampologists! See below for more information about the special for joining Stampin’ Up!
The banners are cut using the Stylish Shapes dies, with the Cherry Cobbler ends being the smallest banner cut in half and glued on the two ends for a long background banner feel without having a die for that! I embellished the background using the Wink of Stella brush on the leaves and Pumpkin Pie on the oranges in the background using our Blending Brushes.
