I’m on a mission to design and make a new card when I sit down to craft, something that isn’t easy just getting back into the swing of things. I’m trying to find some easy but elegant card designs that I can share at a class or a workshop with friends… not sure that this one would be considered easy, but I sure think that it would be fun to receive!

I started by assembling the ladybugs, which consist of Basic Black bodies and stamped Sweet Sorbet and Memento Black on Basic White (using the Hello Ladybug Photopolymer set), punched with the Ladybug Builder punch. I then glued the wings to the body using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen, though Tombow “Green” Glue or Stampin’ Seal (while being careful) would work as well.
For the background, I used Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, and Memento Black. The background is layered on Basic Black then Sweet Sorbet for the card base. The Ladybugs, once dried, were affixed using Stampin’ Dimensionals and I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels (because every project needs some sparkle!)
The inside was stamped with a Daisy in Mango Melody/Memento Black and the three-flower stamp in Sweet Sorbet. The layers might look a little off because when I cut the white for the background, I forgot that I was going to add a black layer, so I took off only 1/8 of an inch to try to prevent cutting off the “o” in some of the “hello”s in the background.
substitutions and thoughts
You could use Sweet Sorbet to punch out the wings and then stamp the dots, but I like the thin border of white that surrounds the wings – it gives some contrast and separates the ladybug from its surroundings!
You could also use Parakeet Party instead of Granny Apple Green, or even stamp a few leaves in each color for an even more interesting background!
